A koi pond set into a mature garden, with a rockery waterfall, slate borders and a sandstone path around the water.
A koi pond is really a piece of engineering with a garden built over it. The water has to move, filter and hold its level, and none of that can show once the fish are in.
This one sits in a mature garden, edged in slate and dressed stone, with a rockery waterfall feeding it from one end. A sandstone path runs around the water so it can be walked and watched from every side.
The planting was kept low and evergreen around the margins, so the pond reads as part of the garden through the winter and not only in summer.
