A Travertine Terrace with an Outdoor Kitchen and Sunken Lounge

A cream travertine terrace holding a covered pool, a sunken lounge built around a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen, with the lawn and the play fort beyond.

One terrace, three things to do on it. The travertine holds the pool along one side, a lounge cut a step down into the middle, and a kitchen run against the hedge, so the swimming and the cooking and the sitting all happen on the same level.

The lounge has benches built into three sides in the same stone and a square fire pit set into the floor. The kitchen beside it has a stainless gas grill and a worktop. The pool is lined in dark graphite, which is where the water gets its colour, and the slat cover rolls out of a housing at the far end.

Past the clipped box the lawn runs on to a play fort and a trampoline under the willow. Some of these photographs were taken in autumn with the edges still bare, the others in spring, once the garden had grown in around it.
