A Timber Garden Bar
An open-fronted timber bar built against the flank wall of a house, under a pantiled roof on exposed rafters, with an L-shaped live-edge counter.
This one is built onto the house rather than dropped into the garden. It takes its back wall from the brickwork, runs a pitched pantile roof off it on exposed rafters, and closes the returns in board-and-batten timber.
The counter is the piece that carries it: a thick live-edge slab turning an L over fitted cupboards, with a carved stone panel set into the front and a travertine floor underneath. Four stools stand along the open side, and the artificial lawn runs up to the edge of the paving.
Roofed and floored properly, it stays usable in the weather that empties a patio, which is the argument for building a bar rather than buying one.
