A Garden Room Fitted as a Lounge and Bar
A garden room finished as one room: slat-panelled walls, a flush skylight, a walnut bar and a corner sofa, opening through bifolds onto a small deck.
What separates a garden room from a shed is everything you cannot see from outside. Insulation, wiring, heating and enough ventilation to make the room usable in August as well as February.
This one is finished as a single room, with walnut-toned acoustic slats on two walls, plain white plaster on the others, and a long flush skylight down the middle that keeps the back of the room as bright as the doors. There is a panel radiator on one wall and an air-conditioning unit on the other, so the temperature is a decision rather than a season.
A walnut bar with two stools stands at one end and the corner sofa at the other, and the bifolds fold back onto a small timber deck with a painted pergola beside it. It is a room in the garden rather than a building at the end of it.
