A Cleared Plot and New Lawn in Ascot
A prefabricated building cleared off an Ascot plot and the whole area laid to a striped new lawn, with trellis, espaliers and a new post-and-rail boundary.
Part of this garden had stopped being garden. A prefabricated building stood on worn, patchy grass beside a small brick outbuilding, and the ground around it had been walked bare.
The building came off, the ground was made good and levelled, and the whole area was laid to lawn from the gate across to the boundary. It is mown in stripes in these photographs, which is the quickest way to read a new lawn: the lines only run true if the ground beneath them does.
Around the edges, trellis panels are fixed to the brick outbuilding with espaliered shrubs trained across them, a low clipped hedge runs along its base, and a new cleft post-and-rail fence with wire infill closes the far boundary.
