A Bespoke Copper Spa
A one-off copper spa set into a travertine surround, against a warm brick wall softened by jasmine and sub-tropical planting.
Not every spa comes out of a catalogue. This one was made in copper and set into a low travertine surround, so it belongs to the house it sits against rather than looking like something wheeled into place.
The wall behind it is old brick, left bare and left to the jasmine, with palms and broad-leaved planting closing the corner in. The result is a small, warm, private courtyard built around a single piece of water.
Copper weathers as it is used, so the finish will keep shifting over the years. It is meant to.
